Individualized Risk Profile

How did each crew member's body change?

Perturbation Dashboard — scored against the individual's own L-44 baseline

Each domain is scored against the individual's own pre-mission baseline — not a population reference. This answers “how much did this person change?” rather than “are they normal?”

How to read this dashboard

These findings describe four individuals at one point in time. No finding should be generalized to spaceflight health broadly. Individual differences dominate the signal. Scores labeled “2× individual baseline” use derived thresholds, not clinical cutoffs.

How we show data

  • We show each person's change from their own baseline, not against a population average.
  • We use ribbons and ranges instead of point values to reflect real measurement uncertainty.
  • n=4 is too small to generalize. We show individual trajectories, not crew-wide claims.

Immune Regulation

Tracks how the immune system reshapes itself — shifts in antibody diversity, circulating cell populations, and cytokine signaling during and after spaceflight.

  • OSD-570 VDJ repertoire
  • PBMC snRNA-seq
  • OSD-575 cytokine panel

Inflammation

Measures proteins and white blood cells that rise when the body mounts an inflammatory response — elevated during infection, physical stress, and radiation exposure.

  • OSD-575 cardiovascular panel (CRP, haptoglobin, fibrinogen)
  • CBC WBC/neutrophil
  • TNFα/IL-6/IL-1β

Oxidative Stress

Markers of cellular damage caused by reactive oxygen species — elevated during radiation exposure and physical stress.

  • OSD-571 metabolomics (glutathione, oxidized lipids, acylcarnitines)
  • OSD-571 proteomics

DNA Damage Response

data-limited

Gene-expression signatures indicating cells are activating DNA repair pathways — indirect evidence of strand-break stress from cosmic radiation. No direct strand-break assay data was collected.

  • OSD-571 bulk RNA-seq transcriptomic DDR signatures

Mitochondrial Function

Energy metabolism markers that reflect how efficiently cells produce and use fuel — disruptions can signal stress, adaptation, or recovery from spaceflight.

  • OSD-571 metabolomics (TCA cycle, acylcarnitines)
  • OSD-571 proteomics
